Some of the beaches in and around Cape Town include Milnerton Beach across the road from Lagoon Lodge with spectacular sunsets and stunning views of Table Bay and Table mountain, Camps Bay´s incredibly baeutiful and easily accessible beach with classy restaurants and cocktail venues, Clifton beach made up of four adjoining beaches is well worth a visit, Blaauwberg Beach´s endless white sands and home to Cape Town´s wind and board surfers. Sandy Bay is one of the city´s most beautiful beaches and is also Cape Town´s only nudist beach.
Robben Island is one of the most famous prisons in the world and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999. It became infamous during the apartheid government in South Africa. A number of political prisoners including Nelson Mandela were incarcerated at Robben Island. Regular tours are run to the island and the ferries depart from the Neslon Mandela gateway at the V&A Waterfront.
Table Mountain is one of the most spectacular World Heritage Sites.
Opened in 1929, the cable way carries over half a million people up the mountain each year and the revolving cable car offers you a 360° view of the city and mountain. For the more energetic tourist, hiking trails are also open to the public and footpaths have recently been upgraded.
